The nearly four-week evaluation of more than 600 completed applications for the 2009 NASA Academy is over. During that time, Academy Alumni, NASA Center personnel, National Space Grant Directors, and Academy managers at various NASA Centers participated in reviewing applications. Additionally, Academy Alumni conducted phone interviews of the top applicants, based on their composite scores from the various stages of the application processing.
Among other factors, Academy managers used desired student attributes, academic levels, competencies and slate of prioritized applicants provided by Center mentors, as well as students’ demonstrated interest and passion for space and prior research experience, to select finalists and their alternates for their respective Center Academies.
Successful applicants will be notified this month. Glenn will host eight Academy Research Associates and one staff person from June 1 to August 7.
