Academy concludes with presentations and graduation

Monday of week 8 was the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon, and the group attended a panel at lunch of engineers who had been at Glenn during the Apollo days. Tuesday of week 7 had two talks, the Graduate Forum and an evening speaker presentation from Angela Harrivel. Family and Alumni Weekend

The Academy had Family and Alumni weekend at Glenn this weekend. The parents and families arrived on Friday evening, and had dinner at Dr. Kankam’s house. Glenn Academy visits Goddard Academy in DC

The Glenn 2009 Academy spent the Fourth of July holiday weekend in Washington D.C. with the 2009 Academy, Robotics Academy, and Lunar and Planetary Sciences Academy. The group learned to salsa dance, explored the monuments on the National Mall, and enjoyed a spectacular fireworks display.

Glenn interns take tours of GRC

During week 5 of the Academy, the Glenn interns took tours of the SLOPE lab facility and the Hangar, as well as hearing a talk from Matt Melis on the Columbia Accident Investigation Board, and enjoyed a Student-Faculty Picnic on the GRC grounds. Academy attends NASA Night at Progressive Field

During week 4 of the Academy, the interns attended NASA night at Progressive Field, where Astronaut Mike Good of STS-125 threw out the first pitch. The group also spoke with Jeff Landis, Mike Heil, and met two other STS-125 astronauts as well, Drew Feustel and Scott Altman.
