On Tuesday, a poster session gave the interns a chance to present their individual work to the many mentors who came and asked questions. On Thursday, the group gave their final presentation on their group project, BLAST&#8217;EM. They were presented with their Academy pins and formally welcomed into the NASA Academy Alumni Association. Finally, the group attended a banquet dinner for the students and faculty at the 100th Bomber group restaurant. Congratulations to all the 2009 Academy interns!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Monday of week 8 was the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon, and the group attended a panel at lunch of engineers who had been at Glenn during the Apollo days. Several academyites attended the career fair at the Ohio Aerospace Institute, which was part of a conference held there. On Wednesday, the group heard from Prof. Iwan Alexander of Case Western Reserve University about alternative energy technologies in an evening lecture. Over the weekend, the group enjoyed a visit from Tom, MaryBeth, and Mehran, &#8216;08 GRC alums, a visit to the beach, and to the Cleveland Orchestra.</p>

The graduate forum talk gave the interns a better idea of what to expect from the application process, how to obtain funding, and gave advice about how to find an advisor. Angela Harrivel spoke to the group about her work in studying pilots&#8217; brain activities while operating planes using imaging technology called fNIRS.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Academy had Family and Alumni weekend at Glenn this weekend. The parents and families arrived on Friday evening, and had dinner at Dr. Kankam&#8217;s house. On Saturday, the families visited the Glenn Visitor&#8217;s Center and learned about the research areas at GRC, and then enjoyed a barbeque at the Rocky River Metropark with alums Omar (Goddard), Kyle and Kamara (Glenn 07). The Academyites and some friends and siblings enjoyed an exciting day at Cedar Point Amusement Park on Sunday.</p>
