Academy attends NASA Night at Progressive Field

During week 4 of the Academy, the interns attended NASA night at Progressive Field, where Astronaut Mike Good of STS-125 threw out the first pitch. The group also spoke with Jeff Landis, Mike Heil, and met two other STS-125 astronauts as well, Drew Feustel and Scott Altman.

2009 Glenn Academy visits CCAFS and KSC

The 2009 Glenn Academy took a trip to Florida’s Space Coast and visited Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on June 21st and Kennedy Space Center on June 22nd, 2009. The interns saw tons of planes, spaceships, rockets, and space stations. Look for pictures and tour summaries to appear soon!

2009 Academy Goes Camping in Pennsylvania

The 2009 Glenn Academy embarked on their first weekend trip with a drive to Pennsylvania and a stay in Ohiopyle State Park. The group went hiking, visited Falling Water House, cooked on the campfire, and went white-water rafting. Check out some pictures here: Week 2 Photos

Glenn Academy 2009 Begins!

The NASA Glenn Academy students will officially begin their time at Glenn on Monday, June 1st. The Research Assistants have a very busy summer planned and are excited to begin the program! More information will be coming soon.

NASA Glenn Academy 2009 Application Review Complete

The nearly four-week evaluation of more than 600 completed applications for the 2009 NASA Academy is over. During that time, Academy Alumni, NASA Center personnel, National Space Grant Directors, and Academy managers at various NASA Centers participated in reviewing applications. 2009 Applicants to Receive Offers by End of March

Offers to 2009 NASA Glenn Academy applicants are currently scheduled to go out by the end of March.
The ten-week 2009 NASA Glenn Academy for Space Exploration will begin on June 1, 2009.

2009 NASA Academy Application Now Available

Due to internal program changes, the online application for the 2009 Academy has been delayed and is just now becoming available.
The application deadline as of this posting is January 26, 2009 at 5:00 pm EST, as specified on the NASA Academy application website.
Offers to selected students will take place in March 2009.

As Academy Ends, Group Looks Forward to High Altitude Balloon Launch

On August 1, 2008 the Glenn Summer Academy officially came to a close. The RAs however have not ceased in their efforts. The high altitude launch of their group project (a balloon assisted launch system) is scheduled for August 30, 2008 with StratoStar LLC in Indiana.

Dayton Air Show on the Near Horizon

This Saturday July 19, 2008 the NASA Glenn Academy will be attending the Dayton Air Show. While in Dayton the Academy will see a largeĀ  number of static aircraft displays and some very unique flight demonstrations. Among the flight demonstrations are a team of three F-104 Starfighters and the spectacular F-22 Raptor.

Academy to visit California this Week

On Wednesday July 9, the Glenn Academy will be departing Cleveland for the sunny days of Southern California. While in CA the Academy will be touring NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center, Edwards Air Force Base, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX).
